Elon Musk Says He Once Asked to Be Apple CEO, Really?

Elon Musk leads several companies, most famously certainly as CEO of SpaceX and Tesla. But it is also claimed that this South African-born man once asked to become CEO of Apple.

In a new book titled 'Power Play: Tesla, Elon Musk and the Bet of the Century' written by a Wall Street Journal reporter, it is mentioned that about five years ago, Elon spoke with Apple CEO Tim Cook via mobile phone.

At the time, Tesla was experiencing quite a lot of issues such as production delays and electric cars had not been widely accepted. Well, Cook called wanting to buy a Tesla.

Elon replied he wanted to sell Tesla to Apple on one condition. "I'm the CEO" he said at the time. Cook is aware that Elon wants to take over. The transaction Apple wanted to buy Tesla never happened.

Last December, Elon Musk revealed it was true he once considered selling Tesla to Apple when his company was in trouble, but he denied ever having any direct discussions with Cook. "He refused to come to the meeting," Elon said.

Regarding the writing in the book, Elon denied having the condition of wanting to become CEO of Apple. "Cook and I never spoke or wrote to each other," he said in a tweet on Twitter.

Cook himself has said that he never spoke in depth with Elon. "I never spoke to Elon, even though I had great admiration and respect for the company he built," Cook said some time ago.

Tim Higgins, the author of the book, later stated that Elon had been given the opportunity to publish his comments in the book, but it was not done. Elon's origins in wanting to become Apple CEO he thinks come from Elon Musk himself based on sources, which may only be intended as a joke.
