Scarlett Johansson Sues Disney


 
Actress Scarlett Johansson is suing Disney for her 'home' for 10 years with the rest of the Avengers. The actress was upset that she thought Disney was violating their agreed employment contract.

This came after Disney chose to screen Black Widow on their OTT, Disney+, along with a theatrical screening.

Reported from Variety mentioned if the case has been presented to the court on Thursday (29/7) then in Los Angeles. ScarJo's lawyers stated that it suffered losses because it was only promised bonuses if it reached certain targets for achievements in theaters.

The bonus was also not earned because Disney chose to show the film Black Widow on their streaming service with the aim of getting the audience to switch there.

The lawyer, John Berlinski, also mentioned that Scarlett Johansson was paid USD 20 million from the film. They were very disappointed that they didn't get any compensation from the disney+ screening.

"Second, Disney substantially wishes to devalue the agreement with Johansson and thus enrich itself," wrote Scarlett Johansson's lawsuit.

Black Widow itself grossed USD 80 million in the United States and USD 79 million worldwide. While from Disney+ they earned up to USD 60 million by selling premium services for USD 30 to watch the film.

The film's total revenue was USD 158 million or Rp 2.2 trillion worldwide since its July 9 premiere.

That achievement also made it the most unsold film from Marvel to date. Even reported from Deadline mentioned that the film Black Widow decreased by 68% in the second week of its release and is a record in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Reported from Collider, Scarlett Johansson is rumored to have joined Disney to star in Tower of Terror which has a horror genre. In addition to being the lead, Johansson will also be a producer on the project.

But with the emergence of the case it is not yet known how the future of the actress with the company with the rat logo.
