Novak Djokovic wins the 2021 Wimbledon title

Novak Djokovic wins the 2021 Wimbledon title. The world number one overcame Matteo Berrettini's fierce resistance in the final 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-4, 6-3.

Djokovic faces Berretini in the Wimbledon men's singles final on Centre Court, All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Sunday night. Facing seventh-seeded Berretini, Djokovic was clearly seeded.

However, the Serbian was in trouble against Berretini in the first set. At 5-2, Djokovic had to lose the set after Berretini was superbly able to turn things around.

The Italian could force the score to 6-6. Berretini then won 7-4 with a tie break to close out the opening set with a 7-6 victory.

Djokovic would no longer repeat the mistake in the first set in the second set. The duel was tight again when Berretini, who had been left behind 5-1, narrowed the gap to 5-4. However, Djokovic was able to overcome the pressure to eventually win 6-4.

Djokovic was again able to dampen Berretini's fierce resistance. He closed out the set with a similar score in the second set at 6-4.

Djokovic's performance improved in the fourth set despite a 3-3 run. Djokovic then closed out the set 6-3 to seal victory over Berretini.

The 2021 Wimbledon Trophy is Djokovic's 20th Grand Slam title. The 34-year-old equalled the record set by Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
