Bill Gates is said to be friends with Jeffrey Epstein, a high-profile sex offender who has died in prison by suicide. It reportedly also made Melinda Gates, his now-divorced wife, sickened. The Microsoft founder finally talked about this.
Gates admits that his relationship with Epstein was a big mistake. Moreover, it seemed to make Epstein an influential figure because he hung out with Gates and several other important figures before finally being arrested by the authorities.
"It was a very big mistake to spend time with him, to give him credibility," Gates said
Gates said he met Epstein only in hopes of getting more donations to address global health issues and no other purpose.
"I did have dinner a few times with him, hoping that what he said about getting billions for charity for global health through his connections could happen. When it appears that it didn't happen, then the relationship ends," Bill Gates said.
Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on charges of controlling a minor's sex network. Previously, he enjoyed getting close to elites including Bill Gates.
As to whether his closeness to Epstein used to be one of the reasons for Melinda's divorce, Bill Gates declined to comment. At the moment he thinks the most important thing is to recover and reflect on the divorce.
"It is time to reflect and at this point, I need to walk forward. In the family, we will recover," bill Gates said.
