Australian Ashleigh Barty won Wimbledon 2021. The world number one won a three-set duel against Karolina Pliskova 6-3, 6-7 and 6-3.
The 2021 Wimbledon women's singles final takes place on Centre Court, All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Saturday (7/10/2021) wib. Barty started well by winning the first 14 points to comfortably snatch the first set.
Karolina Pliskova bounced back in the second set, relying on her strong serve and keeping the odds. But a number of mistakes made the Czech Republic's momentum disappear and Ashleigh Barty ensured her victory.
It was the first Wimbledon title for Barty, as well as the second Grand Slam title of her career. The 25-year-old previously won the French Open in 2019.
Barty also ended the australian women's tennis title drought at Wimbledon. She became the first women's tennis player to win the tournament in 41 years, or since Evonne Goolagong Cawley won in 1980.
'It's amazing. I have to thank everyone in this stadium. You guys made my dream so special," he told the audience in the arena, as reported by the BBC.
Karolina Pliskova is the eighth seed in the tournament. The defeat made the world's 13th-ranked player again have to wait for his first Grand Slam title.
